2008 The Masters Rotoff Golf Leaderboard

Round 4

On a day when only one team shot under par (Kinzler RR -1) , Shlink Lincoln takes advatage of the teams ahead of him falling back and gets the major win ($20), the second of his career, on a round of even par.  Shlink Lincoln also sets the new Masters course record at -21.  Honma, the leader after three rounds, hangs on for the major RU ($5), his first career major $ Finish.

The win for Shlink Lincoln moves him into 1st on the 08 Money List and 4th on the Rotoff Career Earnings list.  He also joins Dutch Roll as the only other team with two major titles.

Interesting to note those that were out of play this week as Masters champion Trevor Immelman, T3 Brandt Snedeker and T5 Steve Flesch all rode the bench for their repective teams.  Had Shlink Lincoln played Snedeker he would not have won, especially had the other two above been in the field.

All eyes will be on Shlink Lincoln in June as he goes for the Rotoff Slam at the U.S. Open.  ;o )

Round 3

Honma and Shlink Lincoln share the RR at -8.  Honma takes a three shot lead over Golf Cheese Hoes into the final round at -26 overall.  Also in contention to win are Shlink Lincoln and Sand Crabs in 3rd and 4th place respectively.  Defending champ Dutch Roll is ten shots back after three rounds and a repeat win seems highly unlikely………….but anything can happen on Masters Sunday.  Stay tuned for the exciting final round action.

CLICK HERE TO GO TO THE SITE!!!

Standard calcutta format (i.e. not parimutuel):

Deadline: The calcutta ends Wednesday April 9th at 4:00 PM Eastern.

Payment: Margo Townsend AKA “Midi” will be handling the collection of money and prize payouts. Accepted payment methods are Paypal and Checks. We will post the information after the betting closes.
Please remember the One Hour Rule:

The One Hour Rule: This rule is put into place to squash any attempts to sandbag Outbids at the last minute. If an Outbid is placed between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM Eastern on Tuesday, March 20th then an additional hour of bidding time will be added for the player being bid upon. This will continue to happen as long as Outbidding for the player continues. Please do not abuse this feature. If bidding continues into Wednesday we will have to break some legs!

Example: If someone places an Outbid on Tiger at 3:36 PM, then the deadline is extended to 4:36 for Tiger. If someone outbids again at, say, 4:09 PM, then the deadline is extended again to 5:09 PM, etc. Note that this only applies to Outbids. Regular parimutuel bets do not extend the deadline on a player. Make sure to keep your eye on the site (and/or your e-mail) once the one hour rule is in effect to make sure you have a chance to buy another piece of a player if there has been an outbid on them.
Betting Minimum: Each player will begin with a bet of no less than $10. Each increment bid raised thereafter must be in multiples of $10 per bid.

The Field: There will be no Field bid.

Prize Structure: Four prizes, split will be 40%, 30%, 20%, and 10% of prize pool.

Sign Up: You will be required to register before you place a bid. PLEASE, ONLY USE YOUR REAL NAME!!!

Email Notification: You will (should) receive an email notification indicating that your bet has been accepted. You will (should) also receive an e-mail notification when someone places an Outbid on a player that you had action on. There have been issues in the past with emails, so please don’t rely on them!

At long last the Masters is here.  The first major of the 2008 season is sure to be a great one as Tiger looks to continue his domination of the PGA Tour.

Last season Zach Johnson became a household name with a clutch back nine performance on Sunday in holding off Tiger, Goosen and Sabbatini by two shots for his first major win.  His +1 overall score was tied for the highest winning score ever at Augusta.  Zach, who is not a power hitter, did it with fairways (T2 for the week) and greens (T4) , proving that you don’t have to be a long driver to win at Augusta.

This year they have shrunk all the greens and fairways to “Zach Proof” the couse…………………j/k.  The only real changes made to the course for this year’s Masters are a few tee box extensions and green enlargments, effecting four holes.

2008 Masters Odss

All eyes will be on Tiger this week as he looks to win his 14th career major and start on a quest for the historic Grand Slam.  The smart money is on Tiger.  Aside from his consecutive win streak that was snapped with a T5 finish at the WGC-CA Championship, the real indicator of how Tiger will fare this week is in his determination.  In my 10+ years of watching golf I have never seen a golfer look more motivated, poised and outright determined to win then Tiger has this season.  And believe me that’s hard for me to say as a Phil guy.  That determination will only increase for Masters week.

If anyone is going to play spoiler to Tiger this week it would have to be Geoff Ogilvy.  Geoff is coming off a win (ending Tiger’s streak at the WGC-CA) and T2 finish in his last two starts and already has a major title to his name (the 2006 U.S. Open).  His two shot victory over Tiger three weeks ago will no doubt serve as additional motivation for Tiger, but Ogilvy will not back down from the challenge.  Look for him to be in the hunt come Sunday.

On a positive note for Phil, this will be his first healthy major since joining up with Butch Harmon last spring.  Phil has been consistent in 2008 with only one missed cut and finishing no worse than T23.  Expect Phil to contend on experience alone as he has won here twice in the last four years.</Phil homer comment>

Will we see the dream pairing of a Tiger/Phil on Sunday?  Here’s to hoping.

Happy (Early) Masters Sunday to all.

Won’t Win:  Ernie Els

Could Win:  Tiger Woods, Geoff Ogilvy, Phil Mickelson

Sleepers:  Vaughn Taylor, Justin Rose, Mike Weir
