2008 Week 12: WGC-CA Championship Scoring

Round 4

Golf Cheese Hoes holds on for the win ($8), her first of the season, enroute to a new course record of -31.  Defending champ Romig shoots the RR at -4 (Furyk 68) and outlasts Sand Crabs for the RU ($2) on Furyk’s birdie on 17, but comes up one shot short of the leader.  The win moves Golf Cheese Hoes up two spots to #8 on the Career Earnings list and up one spot in the Point standings, also #8.

Round 3

Golf Cheese Hoes maintains a two shot lead over Kinzler, Sand Crabs and Dutch Roll through three rounds at -30 overall.  Kinzler shares the RR at -10 (Ogivly 68, Garcia 69) to get into contention.  Defending champ Romig also shoots -10 and is currently in 5th place, four shots back.

Dutch Roll gets the RR at -11 (Stricker 68, Choi 70) and moves into 2nd place, one shot behind leader Golf Cheese Hoes at -23 overall.  Sand Crabs and Honma are tied for 3rd, three shots out.

Round 4

18 Hoes holds for the win ($4) in a playoff over Gonzalez when Qunniey birdied 18.  It’s 18 Hoes record eighth career win.  The RU ($1) is the third this season for Gonzalez (tieing Romig for 1st in career RUs) who takes over the top spot on the Points list.  Sand Crabs, Slaughter and Shlink Lincoln share the RR of the day at -3 to finish 3rd, 4th and T5 respectively.

 It was an exciting back nine as 18 Hoes and Gonzalez changed leads several times as Quinney and Mickelson battled in the final pairing.

Round 3

Kinzler shoots the RR of the day at -8 to move into 4th place and still very much in contention.  18 Hoes gets a birdie on the last hole to take a one shot lead Gonzalez into the final round.  Golf Cheese Hoes sits in 3rd place at -24 overall, three shots off the winning pace.

Gonzalez dominates round 2, shooting a -13 (Mickelson 64, Watson 68), to take a two shot lead into Saturday at -22 overall.  18 Hoes also shot a great round of -10 and is in 2nd place.  Sand Crabs is at -19 for the tournament and in 3rd place.

Round 4

Honma gets the win, ($4) his first of the year (and career) beating 18 Hoes in a playoff on Imada’s birdie on 17.  It was a brilliant round of 67 for Imada that helped Honma come back from a four shot defecit through 54 holes.  The win also catapults Honma into 2nd on the points list.  After a slow start 18 Hoes gets a boost from Tiger to get back into the points race, settling for the RU ($1).

It was brutal conditions on the course, with only three rounds under par.

Round 3

18 Hoes lights up the back 9 and shoots the RR at -9 (Tiger 66) to take a two shot lead into the final round.  Romig is at -26 for the tournament and sits in 2nd place.  Defending champ Gonzalez still has an outside chance, tied for 4th place.

Honma gets the RR of the day at -10 (Singh five birdies) and jumps up into a tie for 2nd place with 18 Hoes and Romig all at -19.  Sand Crabs maintains his lead and has a two shot cushion heading into Saturday.

Round 1

Sand Crabs gets an amazing round from tournament leader Troy Matteson (-7 on the South course is sick!) and leads by three shots after the first round at -14.  In 2nd place is 18 Hoes who is looking to bounce back from a horrendous start without his #1 golfer, some guy named Tiger.  Kinzler and Romig put together solid rounds of -10 each and sit tied for 3rd heading into tomorrow’s 2nd round.  Look for weather conditions to worsen over the weekend.  Lots of rain in the forecast.  Southies are Northies tomorrow and vice versa.
