2007 Week 14: Masters Scoring

shlinklincoln April 4th, 2007

Round 4

Zach Johnson’s brilliant back 9 was not enough to catch Dutch Roll. On another day of not so great scoring, Dutch Roll gets an even par round from Tiger to hold on for the major win ($20.00), one stroke better then Gonzalez ($5.00 RU). Shlink Lincoln, the leader after 54 holes, could not keep hold on the lead. Appleby struggled in the final pairing with Tiger, shooting a +3. The three way tie for 2nd helped out a few teams bonus points wise.

Dutch Roll sits atop the 07 Money List w/ $25.00.

Round 3

Shlink Lincoln jumps to the top of the pack with the help of Stuart Appley’s torrid start. Appleby’s birdies on 2, 3 and 4 helped Shlink Lincoln to a RR of the day -4. Dutch Roll is only one stroke off the lead and has a poised Tiger going tomorrow. The scoring was absolutely horrible today, one of the worst Saturday scoring average in the history of Augusta. There is a group of teams tied for 3rd place and anything can happen on Masters Sunday.

Round 3 FC

Paul Casey, Stewart Cink, Luke Donald, Jose M. Olazabal, Rory Sabbatini, Henrik Stenson, Scott Verplank, Mike Weir, Brett Wetterich

Round 2

Dutch Roll gets the RR of the day at -9, placing him in 1st place heading into the weekend. One stroke back is Shlink Lincoln.

Round 2 FC/MC

Robert Allenby, Bart Bryant, Mark Calcavecchia, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Charles Howell III, Trevor Immelman, Nick O’Hern, Adam Scott, David Toms

Round 1

I friggin love the Masters! Ok, had to get that out of the way.

It was a tough 1st round for scoring but through it all Gonzalez grabs the 1st round lead on the nine combined birdies from Bryant, Donald, Johnson and Ogilvy. There’s a deadlock for second place, with five teams all one stroke off the lead. One of those T2 teams, Golf Cheese Hoes, has two golfers in the top 3 including round 1 co-leader Justin Rose. It truly is great to see that everyone is in contention, with only two strokes separating the top nine teams. Even Slaughter, who is playing at the disadvantage of only two golfers in the field, has a shot to get into the chase with a low round tomorrow.

Interesting to note some of the first round cuts. Mickelson, Garcia, Ogivly, and Harrington all out after round 1. Of course bonus points are still possible if these players should pull there putters out of their a**es. The cut will be very key this week in determining the first major winner in Rotoff. I hope this league goes on for 20 years, and we will look back at this initial Masters winner as a Rotoff legend. Of course I’m jumping way ahead of myself.

To be very honest my idea for SLS Rotoff Golf stems from the Masters. Trying to figure out a way to do “Masters Squares” turned into this current Roto Playoff golf format. It makes me proud to see such competive scoring after round 1. I can’t wait to see how this weekend plays out.

Round 1 FC

Stephen Ames, Aaron Baddeley, Sergio Garcia, Paul Goydos, Padraig Harrington, Phil Mickelson, Arron Oberholser, Geoff Ogilvy
